Slowly but surely it's starting to get warmer. The kiddies even had a few hours in the little paddle pool on Sunday. It's going to be a hot one this week - heat wave I think is what they said we will have for this week.
It's almost these 2 monkey's birthdays. I can't believe that my little boy will be 10 and my little girl will be 4. September it will be mr R's last year in primary school and miss R's first year in school!
last year this time my sister janine was here, and i miss her so much. i think i tell her this about every single day. except for the fact that she could have helped us with this move, i miss all the places we went to see. it made me realise how much more fun the summer here in london is if you can go to all these places. it’s not always the best thing to do it on your own (with a little one).
i had a look at some of the things we did last year this time, like: going to richmond for wayne’s birthday; going to the natural history museum & butterfly exhibition; going to st. dunstan in the east and southbank, to name a few things. these photos also shows me just how big a little boy riley has become.
luckily for us, my other sister karlien and her little one katinka is coming here in october – oooh i’m so excited and can’t wait anymore.
enough about missing family and feeling sad because i don’t see them very often. here is some photos of riley to cheer me up.

this was our blue sky this morning – and it definitely doesn’t look like this anymore! at this moment it is raining so hard that there is even ice in the rain.
we’ve been quite busy this last week with my cousin & her husband visiting us (Carmen & Emile – see photo above). we had so much fun!! unfortunately i was a bit lazy and didn’t even take ONE photo of them (so i borrowed the above photo).
i did however take a photo of the AWESOME burgers we had at Gourmet Burger on Tuesday night, they make the BEST burgers & milkshakes!

my niece, Katinka, & her little friend went to see the Babalela show last week. it’s about this cute little purple wood creature that katinka just LOVES! my sister said that she was SUPER excited to see it & was pretty pooped (they both were actually) afterwards.

looking forward to? next appointment on saturday (7th April) to listen to ducky’s little heartbeat AND to the Easter weekend coming up!
what mommy is feeling? ♥ Pretty GREAT!! pregnancy brain is a bit of an issue for me at the moment. i’m not use to forgetting stuff! for example: wayne asked me the other day if i threw away some spoilt fruit in our recycling bin (since it was collection day) and my answer to wayne was: YES, i’ve done it! the next morning (after collection) he opened the fridge & saw the fruit & then he asked me again if i threw it away, and again i replied YES! he told me then that i didn’t because it is still in the fridge. i didn’t believe him because i remember going to the bin and throwing it out. and i argued with him about this, so that he eventually told me to come and have a look in the fridge. i just couldn’t believe that i didn’t do it! (i still think i threw it out but someway or another they ended back in the fridge).
in other news:
this long weekend we were all hoping for some lovely hot & sunny weather like we had the last couple of days (photo above taken on sunday) BUT this was the heading in the papers this morning:

last night we had our second games night & we decided to make it a lovely relaxing evening & play ludo & uno. {to see our first games night, click here}. after the hectic week we both had, a nice relaxing evening is all you need to recharge your batteries.

our weather this week was cool but no rain (at least). i walked past this old battered door & just had to take a photo (i LOVE taking photos of doors). the sunrise this morning, while i’m waiting for my train (that got cancelled & ‘reversed’ back to the station; at least i saw a lovely sunrise) – last photo.

i hope everyone is having a fantastic friday, so far. i created a guest post over at my sister’s blog, Black Sheep about my favourite blog reads this week, go and have a look.
we went to watch Captain America last night, it was better than i expected, after reading all the bad reviews it got. i liked Chris Evans as Captain America, he played the role really well. i liked the fact that there was quite a few funny one liners in the movie (got everyone to giggle/chuckle). i didn’t find the villain convincing but more cheesy than anything else. and the ending was stupid, i know that the next movie, The Avengers, is out next year & they tried to probably bring that into the ending. but it was just dumb with what Captain America said in the end (not going to say what he said, don’t want to spoil it for everybody). i probably didn’t like the director, i think that was the problem. with The Avengers, Josh Whedon will be directing this one – so i can’t wait to see it!

this week in london it was just non-stop rain and more rain (except for the lovely summers day we had on monday).
with all the rain i had to brighten up my week: so i had lunch with my great friend Willie!
i take a train to work every day & my final destination is the magnificent kings cross station. this is such an amazing building – it looks even better now that most of the restoration work are finished. king’s cross station is also the station where they filmed harry potter & the 9 3/4 platform:
it was also the premier of the last harry potter here in london last night. this took place in trafalgar square and the red carpet was a whopping 1.2km long (believed to be the longest in the world) all the way to leicester square where the film was screened. the reason for this was because leicester square is currently undergoing extensive construction. fans came from all over the world for the premier and some have camped out in trafalgar square for almost a week. it’s pretty amazing if you think that it’s been 10 years since the first movie came out AND it took JK Rowling 10 years to write the books. i can’t wait to go and watch it!
wayne is working the whole weekend, so i am hoping for some sunshine & heat this weekend.

we had our first summer’s day here in london on sunday & we took advantage of that by having a bbq (braai) in our back garden. it doesn’t look like much in our garden – but at least we have an outside area.

one of our dinners from this week: fish & green beans with rice; i had to go to a eye specialist yesterday & walked past the library close to my work (pretty cool statue & pillars); london is so pretty and green at the moment, al i want to do is just take photos & spend my days outside.
