12 weeks old

my little mister is 3 months old today (according to weeks).  3 months!! he is growing up so fast, but my mom & sister was right when they said that it just keeps getting better and better.  he is smiling, talking (as far as cooing and aching and giggling are concerned) and being absolutely adorable all day long. i just cannot get enough.  thankfully we are practically attached at the hip these days, so all is good.

here is a few things i love about him:

♥  i love how he gets little goosebumps when he sneezes.
♥  i love it when he greets you with a smile after a nap.
♥  i love his little dimples on his hands.
♥  i love his serious face, especially when it comes to tummy time.
♥  i love it when he spits his dummy out (have to catch it sometimes before it flies out of the pram.
♥  i love it that he is like his dad when it comes to food & sleep - wants to do it RIGHT now & don't want to wait for it.
♥  i love it that he stares at things & people around him (and will even give them a smile - such a charmer).
♥  i love how blond his hair is getting on the top of his head (makes him look bold).
♥  i still love his little double sigh, that he makes when he is satisfied.
♥  i love is 'yum yum' noises when he is feeding.
♥  love his little body pressed against me when he is breastfeeding.
♥  i love his little fat rolls.
♥  i love the fact that he thinks his mom is very funny & that he still loves it when i sing for him.
♥  i love it when he has his dummy half in & half out of his mouth.
♥  i absolutely love it now that he gets excited when he sees me and wayne  & when we walk into his room.
♥  i love how curious he is about everything around him.
♥  i love how much he LOVES the outdoors - he is going to love south africa.
♥  i love how busy he is now with kicking his feet and waving about his arms.
♥  love the little sucking noises he makes when he puts his fist in his mouth.
♥  he is starting to notice his toys on his pram & on his jungle gym.
♥  i love how he sees (and smiles) at himself in the mirror.
♥  when we try to a have strict word with riley about something (like fighting sleep) and he looks you in the eyes and gives you this BIG smile.
♥  i love his new little thing of covering his face to go to sleep.
♥  i love the cute little noise he makes after a sneeze and cough.
♥  and i totally love his big blue eyes.

i still can't believe that he is ours forever, how did we get so lucky??

this weekend

we took riley for his passport photo
isn't it so cute - the best passport photo i've ever seen!!
it was a bit of a mission to take a photo because he didn't want to lay flat on his back at the photo place - so i had to keep him upright in a chair while wayne got him to look at the photographer.

riley 'playing' with sophie the giraffe (actually sucking on her face).
hope you all had a fantastic weekend.

don't you just LOVE this little face.

our weekend in the park

we spend saturday & sunday relaxing in the park, while we had some awesome picnic food.

this was also riley's first picnic in the park & he was such a good little boy.  he just LOVED the outside and couldn't get enough of all the people, animals and the trees & blue sky.

on our way to the park & how beautiful the sky was.
 walking in the park with riley

just relaxing, my family
 my boys

 my little boy sleeping in the park (he loves to cover his face)
like father, like son
saturday evening my cute little boy surprised us with his first uninterrupted 6 hours sleep (if i new that i would have gone to bed earlier).

10 years ago...

... i left south africa to come here to the united kingdom.  the original plan was to come here for work & travel and, oh my, so much has happened to me in the last 10 years.

{this was taken at the airport when my family came to say goodbye.  janine, heleen, andre & karlien.}  WOW they all look so young!!!

i can't believe it's been 10 years already! looking at the photo above, it looks like this was taken 10 years ago but it doesn't feel like it.

a short summary of the 10 years:

i started of in scotland and lived & worked there for a year at 2 different hotels & and at a ski resort

i then went home for my sister karlien's wedding

after spending 3 months in south africa, i decided to come back here since i still had about a year left on my visa.  so i decided to go to London.

i lived in this house in walthamstow (we went for a visit here) with a bunch of other south africans.  this is also where i met my lovely husband wayne.

later my sister and her husband joined me & also lived in the same house.

{photos above from our stay in walthamstow}

it was awesome to have my sister & andre here and we went to see quite a few places like Greece & Scotland.  i miss my sister and wish they lived closer.

in the last 10 years i've been to moto gp about 4 times.

we've travelled to Paris (about 5 times - so easy and quick with the earostar) {more photos click here and here},

New York,

Turkey, Germany, Holland, Brugge,

Lille, Brussels

Venice (see rest of the post here),

Tunisia (where we got engaged) {more photos here} and

Mauritius (for our honeymoon).

we've also travelled through the UK to see places like wales, portsmouth, bath, isle of white, bournemouth, cambridge and oxford to name a few. {to see more places we've been to click here}

so many things have changed in my life in the last few years.

with BIG things like meeting my future husband, {photos above is a few of the loads he sends me from work}

moving into our own place,

our wedding {see the rest here} &

birth of riley {see more here}.

to small things like these:

this is his first day going to work on a bicycle.  (the previous day we walked for 3 hours on the cycle route so that he would know exactly where to go.)

the first time wayne met my family.

when i met wayne's mom & dad, when they came for a visit (and went to Paris with them).

when we became british citizens {this was taken at the ceremony}

christmas in london (see rest of photos here)

new year in london (see rest of photos here)

snow in london {see more here and here}

visit tourist places in london like the london dungeon {photo} and natural history museum

and going to see my favourite band linkin park not once but 3 times - thank you husband {see rest here}

wayne took my to my first football match (at Old Trafford in Manchester).

all these amazing things happened to me & it made me a better person, stronger person & more self assured.  i'm very fortunate to have been able to see and experience all of these things. but i also missed out on a lot with my family & friends in SA.  and this still makes me sad and miss home & everyone there ...

thinking back to 10 years ago when i (as a scared and excited girl) got on that plane in south africa, i would have never thought that i'll be where i am today.  i've had some hard times (and like i said, it's still very hard to be this far away from everyone in SA), but i had (and still have) more awesome and great times than bad.

{getting the photos & links together for this post, just made me realise how much i love this blog}
