it's that time of year again for all the summer markets in london. we went to the marylebone fair in 2011 & 2010 and went there again this year (on sunday). i think this is my favourite summer market (fair) in london. it's got awesome food & music and it is in such an amazing area. we walked through the market slower than normal & also rested more than normal (since i'm over 38 weeks pregnant) but we just loved it.
i am at 38 weeks and i just can't believe it! the time has flown by! to be honest i was expecting to feel worse than what i'm feeling. for 38 weeks (and so close to the end), i feel pretty good! my tummy is still quite high, so i don't think ducky will be here any day soon. he is laying in the correct position at least. according to the doctor, all is well and that is the most important part.
how far along? 38 weeks
maternity clothes? nothing, yay me!!
sleep? it is getting a bit more uncomfortable to sleep & i can't lay for too long on one side.
best moment this week? we heard his healthy little heartbeat on Friday. i also LOVED seeing wayne's happy face on friday when the doctor showed him how to feel ducky's head (and bottom).
miss anything? nothing really.
movement? ducky is very busy when wayne touches my tummy and when it's time for me to go to bed at night.
food cravings? milkshake
anything making you queasy or sick? nothing for this week.
ducky's size? 49-50cm from head to heel.
ducky's weight? 3.18kg (according to the scan the previous week) but on average ducky should weigh around 3-3.2kg
size of bump? 38cm
interesting facts about ducky? ♥ ducky now has a firm grasp, which i will soon be able to test when i hold his hand for the first time. ♥ ducky's true eye colour may not reveal itself for weeks or months. ♥ he is continuing to add fat. ♥ and also fine tuning his brain & nervous system.
what Ducky is currently doing? ♥ he is busy moving his head down into my pelvis (that’s the reason for me wanting to pee all the time). the doctor (and wayne) checked on friday and he is about 2/3 laying correctly, but not ready to come out yet. ♥ he adores his daddy & can't wait for him to touch his mommy's tummy. ducky gives his daddy then a BIG hello by kicking & squirming around.
labour signs? nope
belly button in or out? in
wedding rings or or off? on
happy or moody? super happy and excited to meet this little man!
looking forward to? finishing off his room.
what mommy is feeling? ♥ i still don't have swollen feet and feel pretty great for being so close to the end. ♥ yesterday we went to the marylebone summer fair and my body is a bit tired from all the walking around.
after painting ducky's room we started putting all his little things together to make his room special for him. for the first few months he will be sleeping in our room (in his moses basket) but he still needs a room for all his stuff (and he has a LOT of stuff).
we build (actually i told wayne what to do & he build it) his chest of drawers - that we will also use as his changing table. and since it was a bit white & colourless we bought wooden knobs and painted it in different colours. i LOVE it!
we got him a little circus net for over his cot (that wasn't the easiest thing to get into the roof).
to brighten up one of the little white flower tins we used in our wedding; i made a colourful bunting around it to store all kinds of little things.
i am busy making a few more things for his room and will add photos on here as soon as i am done. i will also give you all a tour of his room as soon as everything is done.
ps. i just love the drawer with all his little diapers in and i catch wayne almost every night standing in his room looking at all his cute small clothes.
we celebrated the queen's diamond jubilee over the weekend and it was fantastic to see all the things they had planned for the weekend. saturday most of the streets had their own street parties; on sunday there was the boats / floats on the river thames with the queen & her family; monday evening they had the concert & picnic in front of buckingham palace & on tuesday there was the church service at St Paul's and the royal family watching the crowds & fly-by of planes from the balcony. some of the well-known products in london even changed their brand naming & packaging for this special occasion. (and there was british flags EVERYWHERE).
the bread is normally named Kingsmill; normally Kit Kat; a british flag projection on Buckingham Palace & british flags in a shopping centre.
even M&M's made a jubilee limited edition pack. this has nothing to do with the jubilee BUT it was SO funny when i noticed wayne's colour combination - and that is how he went to work on friday. (hiehiehie)
packing the last things in ducky's room away; choosing the right blue for his room & then taping the corners and ceiling so that wayne can start to paint.
putting plastic on the floor (to make sure no paint is spilled) & we picked this blue (sky blue) for ducky's nursery
wayne starting to paint & what the walls look like now.
we just LOVE the colour and it goes so well with all of the other colours in ducky's nursery.
as soon as his room is completely finished i will take some photos & add them here.
have a great weekend!!
over the weekend we painted ducky's nursery and got him his last big furniture to make his nursery his special little place. (i will put some photos of wayne painting & the before of the room on here tomorrow). we are almost done ordering all of the last minute things we need so we are getting so ready and super excited (and also a little nervous) for this little man to come now.
I am busy washing all his little blankies and his tiny clothes. it is so cute to see those little thingies hanging on the drying rack. the only problem i have is that it is taking a bit longer to dry because it's been raining here since the weekend and it doesn't look like it's going to clear up very soon.
how far along? 37 weeks
maternity clothes? nothing, yay me!!
sleep? a bit better than last week. the hay fever season hast been to kind to Wayne so far, so he struggles with a block nose at night. (he can sleep because the hay fever tablets make him very sleepy but the block nose keep me awake).
best moment this week? to see him on the scan on friday & hear that he is a happy and healthy little boy (with a big head - he got that from his daddy). i was also super happy to find out that he is still a boy and that the technician didn't make a mistake the first time around (he even showed us his little tools).
miss anything? nothing really.
movement? all the time!! he has BOTH feet now on either sides of my ribs and LOVES to jive around when it's time for his mommy to sleep.
food cravings? gherkins & cheese
anything making you queasy or sick? nothing for this week.
ducky's size? 49cm from head to heel.
ducky's weight? 3.18kg (according to the scan)
size of bump? 36cm
interesting facts about ducky? ♥ ducky is now considered to be full term. ♥ many babies now have a full head of hair, with locks up to 3.5cm long. ♥ antibodies continue to transfer through the placenta to improve the immune system of ducky.
what Ducky is currently doing? ♥ he is busy moving his head down into my pelvis (that’s the reason for me wanting to pee all the time). ♥ ducky is simulating breathing by inhaling and exhaling amniotic fluid, sucking on his thumb, blinking and pivoting from side to side. (He is practicing all these new skills for his next gig - being a newborn. ♥ he adores his daddy & can't wait for him to touch his mommy's tummy. ducky gives his daddy then a BIG hello by kicking & squirming around.

what mommy is feeling? ♥ i’m feeling more tired now and love my afternoon power nap. ♥ my body gets tired quicker than normal now, i can't sit still for too long or can't stand for too long. ♥ it's also getting more difficult to put on things like socks or even get up from the sofa. ♥ luckily i have now swollen feet or hands and i think the rainy & cool london weather is helping for that.
